fashion trends explored in the 4th volume of Stranger Things! I’ll tell you right away, they can divide opinions, as there are those who love the more exaggerated and caricatured aesthetics of the 80s, but there are also people who can’t even imagine a look with shoulder pads and voluminous hairstyles.

Well, if you love the series and are curious to discover a little more about what was worn in the past — and how you can wear them nowadays — grab your walkman, play your favorite music, and come with me!

Polo Collar

Considered very cool during the 80s, the polo collar is very present in this latest season of Stranger Things, especially among the basketball players of the Hawkins team. Although it raises some doubts and is a piece that many people see as “too preppy”, you can wear it in casual looks in everyday life with more fashionable elements, like an oversized blazer and white sneakers.

Visible Socks

I noticed many visible socks in the shoes this season, and I have to say, almost all looks had a visible sock, so of course I couldn’t help but bring this trend that is very high today, especially the versions with more fun or vintage socks — those with two stripes on the ankle.

Saturated Colors

No minimalism during the 80s. At that time, the more color and textures, the better! So, in Stranger Things it couldn’t be any different, right? In the scene where Eleven, Mike, and Will are at the roller skating rink, for example, the amount of colors in the outfits is noticeable. Additionally, almost all the shots at the school have a very interesting contrast of tones — except for the metalheads and the members of the Hellfire club, who were fans of a more punk rock fashion.

Baseball Caps

Speaking of colors, the baseball caps of that time were also more fun, with drawings or more eye-catching patterns. So, if nowadays you find yourself admiring curved-brim caps with funny phrases, thank the 80s.

Sporty Sets

The sporty sets caught my attention the most. Even though they are not in the spotlight in the series, when I saw an extra getting off the bus wearing a long-sleeved green set — very similar to this one in the photo — I immediately wrote it down in my notebook so as not to forget this iconic clothing from that decade. This look is part of the athleisure aesthetic, and has everything to conquer those who love sportier and streetwear looks.

Plaid Shirt

Plaid shirts appeared heavily in all seasons of Stranger Things. Even though it’s not the coolest piece of all, it was very popular and was part of almost every look, regardless of the group of people and styles. It’s not hard to combine them currently, after all, this piece is very versatile and stylish.

Fun Earrings

Do you know the golden hoops and the fake piercings that we love so much today? Well, in the past, earrings were much larger and much more eye-catching. I observed the accessories and, instead of bringing some that were more “obvious”, like wayfarer glasses and scrunchies, I noticed that I had never stopped to look at earrings, rings, and necklaces. The models used were long, in the shape of lightning bolts, mouths, and flowers, while the hoops were thicker and could even have animal print designs!
